Need For Speed: Most Wanted (2005) Who Still Plays?

So, I've acquired a copy of Most Wanted 2005, and I've got it working on my laptop. It's running well, and I've burned through a few challenges and one Blacklist event so far. I've also downloaded a few cop car mods. For a start, I've downloaded some Crown Victorias to replace the game's standard Civic and unmarked Civic cruisers, and these have been working fine apart from the wheels having excessive track width.

Also on the download list is a Caprice and unmarked Caprice. These were also intended to replace the Heat 1 and 2 cruisers, but I thought I could modify these to replace the Heat 3 and 4 GTOs instead. What ended up happening was that I turned the State police cars invisible. Still, I backed up the original cop car files, so I was able to revert the changes. Maybe I'll install the Caprices in the right place once I get tired of the Crown Vics.

All in all, an eventful few hours playing a game that still holds up rather well. I look forward to reliving my childhood, and remixing it with a few mods in the future.

The reason why they turned invisible is because the GEOMETRY.bin has an internal name. That name is the same as the folder name. If you put that file into somewhere else it will crash or become invisible.

I would suggest using vlted to change the heat level cop cars. There is also mods that change the cop cars from heat 7-10. Also if you use vlted, you CANNOT use modloader. Speaking of that, are you using modloader?

I've given up on the idea of using the Caprices for the State Police cars. And no, I am not currently using any mods apart from the police car mods.

I dont know if its useful, but i have the mod to replace the marked gto for a evo X, and the unmarked one for a carrera s,

I was looking at the rap sheet on my cousins profile just this morning and one of the highest ranks is getting up to 30 minutes in a single pursuit. Has anyone ever managed to legitimately pull this off?
It's challenge #68. One easy way is to drive onto the buses at the bus terminal and wait there. In the rare times that a cop does go up there , drive off, then reset back onto buses. This video predates youtube and will auto-stream with Internet Explorer.

That's the challenge series, I was talking about the career mode, which is what the rap sheet is associated with.

I've known that for over a decade now, it helped me get through most of the game back in the days.

For the record, I beat that 30 minute pursuit years ago by just driving around Rosewood.

That's not really a good idea because if you press the reset button, it will almost always get you busted. Very rarely does it not.

You would only get busted if there's a second cop up there, the first one will drive off the buses, and when you reset, there very rarely will be a second cop up there.

I don't remember having to do a 30 minute pursuit for career mode. I'll have to take a look at my notes.

most difficult boss
Usually Earl, because there is no traffic in the final race, which means less chance for the rubber banding AI to randomly make a mistake, since one of the random mistakes is crashing into traffic.

The M3 GTR has weak nitrous. If using nitrous, then Carerra GT is fastest (strong nitrous), followed by the Elise (highest cornering speeds). Using a trainer, M3 GTR can take all Junkman parts except for supercharger (that will crash the game). The wheels are the only part that can be changed within the game.

very long pursuit
To set this up, you need to be at max heat level, since the cops leave when heal level increases. Drive to the west end of Hickley field and drop the west sign, then drive across the field through east side opening, to attract cops, then drive back in and drop the east sign and park next to sign. If you're lucky and this sets up right, there will be cops just outside the east sign. You can adjust the distance from the dropped sign so you never get busted and never evade. Then you can leave the game and come back later. Players have done 24+ hour pursuits this way in MW 2005 and also NFS World (the old stats system showed longest pursuit).

post boss lucky draw cards

The first 3 lucky draw cards from each boss are random. There's a trainer to collect all 6 cards after each boss. I'll have to check, but it may be the first 3 lucky draw cards are randomly rotated, in which case, by using the table below, after choosing the first card, you'll know where the pink slip card is. Table of the rewards:

Code:
Boss race rewards

{?,?,?} are random order
boss ? ? ? unique unique unique
15 pink $10000 jail vinyl rims brakes
14 pink $12500 strike vinyl hood suspension
13 pink $10000 $15000 gauge body transmission
12 pink strike release vinyl body supercharger
11 pink jail $20000 spoiler rim tires
10 pink jail strike roof hood suspension
9 pink release strike gauge hood supercharger
8 pink strike jail body spoiler transmission
7 pink release jail vinyl spoiler tires
6 pink $50000 jail vinyl rims suspension
5 pink strike jail vinyl hood supercharger
4 pink $100000 release vinyl body engine
3 pink jail strike rims roof tires
2 pink release jail gauge vinyl supercharger

Total count of junkman parts you get from career lucky draw cards. Note there is no unique nitrous during career.

Code:
brakes 1
engine 1
nitrous 0
supercharger 4
suspesion 3
tires 3
transmission 2

Thing is though when you press the reset button, the cops don't even have to be close to you for you to get busted. I was at the prison once and I was on the last level you drive down and flipped my car. Despite the cops being on the road below me, a good distance away, and being close to evading them, I still got busted when I hit the reset button. (I think I did it by accident)

I'll give you the benefit of a doubt though, you may have found an interesting quirk in the game where it won't trigger a bust every single time you press that button.

It's one of the records on the rap sheet in career mode.

If you're on the buses, and there are no cops also on the buses, you can drop down to ground level below and reset without issue, even if the cops are directly below, since reset teleports the car from ground level back up onto the buses. I don't think this will work if you try to reset while on the buses without dropping down to ground level first. A similar situation occurs at the middle ramp at the cannery in Gray Point. If you just drop over the ramp, you car may land on the slightly elevated platform below the edge of the ramp, where it's usually safe to park during a pursuit most of the time, even though it's only a few feet above street level. If you're there during a pursuit, and start to get busted, pressing reset teleports your car back up onto the ramp, and unless there are cop cars already up there on the ramp, you won't get busted. The key factor seems to be a reset that teleports your car up to a higher level where there are no other cop cars.

The pink slip card moves to the right with each boss. However, the first card is always random and will reset each time you load a save. There is no guaranteed way to get every car aside from trial and error, or speedrunning the entire game.

The pink slip card moves to the right with each boss.
I've tried that and confirmed this isn't true. I do think the cards only rotate, so the relative order as shown in the table in my prior post will allow a player to choose the pink slip after choosing the first card. For example if you pick the left card after boss 15, and get the $10,000, then the middle card will be a get out of jail card, and the right card will be the pink slip.

You must've reloaded the save at some point, then.
Eventually yes, I didn't do all of career mode in one session. The table does show the relative order, and I still think the game just rotates the listing I show in the table, as opposed to actually randomly choosing 1/3 for 1st card, 1/2 for 2nd card, and the remaining card for 3rd card. So once you pick any of the first 3 cards, you'll know which card has the pink slip.

It moves to the right each time. If the slip is card #1 for Sonny, it'll be card #2 for Taz. If it's card #3 for Sonny, it'll be card #1 for Taz, and so on.

Once a save is loaded, the first card you pick (for whichever boss ) is randomized again.

This could be a side of effect of a random number generator where random_number modulo 3 would tend to follow a pattern for a while, in this case, rotating to the right each time, but this may only last for a few cycles, or a few bosses. It's possible that the pattern breaks somewhere beyond 3 or 4 bosses, maybe 10 or more.

I was in a pawn shop on the weekend and picked up the Black Edition for the princely sum of $3. Back when it was new I played this on console so it’s nice to go back and play the PC version to see what the differences were.

Ive downloaded the Modern Rockport mod to give the graphics a boost and it does pretty well even on my crappy laptop.

Thinking about adding some new cars but wondering if there’s any bodykit mods for the stock cars as the choices are pretty poor. At least Carbon had autosculpt so you could make things look half realistic instead of something out of a kids cartoon.

There are not many but it works as replacement mods using modloader which causes conflict to car add ons:

Cayman: https://nfsmods.xyz/mod/59
RX7: https://nfsmods.xyz/mod/60
M3 GTR: https://nfsmods.xyz/mod/183
M3 GTR (Street car): https://nfsmods.xyz/mod/971
Ruf CTR3 replacing Carrera GT: https://nfsmods.xyz/mod/999

There are other mods I do recommends are:
Spoiler Pack 1 (standard cars): https://nfsmods.xyz/mod/61
Spoiler Pack 2 (Hatchback cars): https://nfsmods.xyz/mod/66
Spoiler Pack 3 (Porsche): https://nfsmods.xyz/mod/639

Thanks for your suggestions! The Rx7 mod looks really good and I’ll have to check it and the M3 mods out. Would be funny to race Razor with an M3 heh heh

Back to playing NFS MW. Trying to get as much bounty as I can on the M3 GTR.

Has any of you tried adding a new car to the game using VLTed? Such as Nissan or other brands removed by licensing issues?

is it possible to make the blacklist use the cars added from the unlimiter? I haven't try adding cars to the game and been mostly stuck with the old modloader because I like to see the blacklist drives new cars.
